An infographic is an image (graph, chart, etc.) used to represent data or information. Infographics are used to display lots of data without using too many words. The best kind of information to put in an infographic are probably graphs and charts because they are much easier to interpret without using words. Often, infographics are used to compare two things or create awareness about a certain issue. For example, D.A.R.E may use statistics on an infographic to show the consequences of drugs and alcohol. Infographics can also be used to give statistical information on certain topics to create a big picture of how prevalent something really is. Infographs can use powerful graphics and chilling statistics to convey a message to their target audience, especially when they are giving information on negative things like drugs or alcohol. When giving a positive presentation, presenters could use cute little pictures and positive data to reinforce their topic of choice. Infographics could be used in school presentations in order to compile lots of information into one graphic. For example, instead of 5 power point slides, a student could put all the data on one infographic.
